Mutanoraptor 44/700c :: EOL? WTF?

September 2nd, 2005 § 1

There is a concept called the “Herblock Law” that I first found detailed in Colin Fletcher’s “The Complete Walker“, third edition. This “Law” suggests that any truly durable product that is really well made, functional and really gets the job done will go out of production well before it’s useful life is over.

WTB has stopped production of the Mutanoraptor 44/700c. Perhaps the 29′er revolution has everyone believing that 2.1″ tires are the way to go? Well, for this crusty old guy, I don’t wan’t to have to leg-lock no 29′er/2.1 (52mm) in a pinch. The 44mm Mutano is perfect for scorcher trail fixin.

I’m actually considering a little hording.

As gas prices soar, I bike-commute (more).

    Ack! Bad news. I think I’m going to have to lay in a stock of them quickly.
